Kelly Chan is a content producer at Boston.com. She designs multimedia content on-site and across social media platforms, builds and deploys newsletters, curates section fronts, packages stories for the website, and experiments with new ways to engage readers.

Kelly joined in 2024 after nearly two years in digital marketing at social impact and philanthropic organizations. She has worked across a wide range of digital mediums, from social media to data visualization to video editing. She is also an experienced Boston-based event photographer. Her bylines can be found in Poynter, The Boston Globe, and The Emancipator. 


Education

Kelly is a graduate of Northeastern University, where she earned both a Master of Science in Media Innovation and Data Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. There, she served as editor in chief of two publications, The Huntington News and Storybench, and was an assistant editor for The Scope.


Awards

In 2023, Kelly received a Dean’s Special Recognition Award from Northeastern University for her editorial piece published in Poynter: “Journalists must understand the power of community engagement to earn trust.” In 2024, she also received the Peter Anderson Memorial Award, which honors the Boston Globe writer, for dedication to the field of journalism.
