Khari Thompson covers professional sports for Boston.com. 
Khari, who grew up in Jamaica Plain, knew from a young age that he wanted to become a sportswriter and chronicle the latest developments in Boston sports. 
After playing varsity football and basketball at Boston Latin School and writing for the school newspaper, Khari graduated cum laude from Hampton University with a degree in journalism. 
He spent three-and-a-half years covering high school sports for The Commercial Appeal (Memphis, Tenn.) and one season covering the Deion Sanders-led Jackson State University football program for The Clarion Ledger (Jackson, Miss.) before joining Boston.com in 2022. 
Khari covered the 2024 NBA Playoffs, during which the Celtics claimed their record 18th championship, for Boston.com. He has also covered Bill Belichick’s final season with the Patriots, two college football bowl games, and the WCG FedEx St. Jude Invitational, among other notable sporting events.

Hampton University. B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. Class of 2017.


Awards

Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston Youth of the Year (2013), one of a dozen students selected for the Sports Journalism Institute class of 2017, and our Boston.com sports team won the New England Newspaper and Press Association's Best Sports Section award in 2023.
