A 19-year-old from Brighton is facing a slew of charges in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old in Roxbury last week.
Isaac Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm) resulting in serious bodily injury; assault and battery by discharge of a firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition without an FID card; firearm use in the commission of a felony; discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling; firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes; and unlawful possession of a firearm without an FID Card (subsequent offense).
Boston police said Gonzalez was arrested following the investigation into the shooting on July 30. Officers responded around 6:56 p.m. to the call for a person shot in the area of 835 Huntington Ave. At the scene, they found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, police said. The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators determined the shooting took place nearby at 10 New Whitney St, the department said. Police said after reviewing physical and electronic evidence, detectives identified Gonzalez as the suspect in the shooting.
A warrant for his arrest was issued out of West Roxbury District Court, where he is expected to appear on the charges. He was arrested Wednesday by officers assigned to the department’s Youth Violence Strike Force, the state police gang unit, and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, among other agencies.
Attorney information for Gonzalez was not immediately available Wednesday night.
