A Taunton teen was arrested after allegedly stealing a car from a Norwood dealership and leading the police on a chase, according to Norwood Police.
Norwood Police received a report of a stolen car from the Boch Nissan dealership around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police located the stolen vehicle nearby and reported license plates had been added to the vehicle.
The suspect saw the police and drove off at a high speed, according to the report.
After losing sight of the vehicle, the police located the vehicle again before the suspect drove off at a high speed a second time.
As the search continued, a witness told police the suspect parked the car behind a building and fled the scene on foot. Police reported finding the vehicle and the suspect’s sweatshirt nearby.
Police located the suspect at Mr. Franks Food Mart gas station and arrested him on the nearby Walnut Street.
The suspect, Avante Dos Santos Teixeira, 18, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop for police, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.
